Brilliant Zach! Thank you for the great performance in what looks a corner of Brooklyn. An anthem from my then soon to be Draft eligible youth when myself and many many others were working in the draft resistance movement in 1968 and 1969. We were high school kids under 18 because it was a federal offense to give out any information counsel or advise anyone eligible on their legal rights to avoid being conscripted subject to 5 yrs in federal prison and a $10,000 fine. But of course if you were under 18 you were a minor and not subject to prosecution so kids our age did the counseling (in the basement of the local Catholic church whose courageous priest, bless him, was a vocal critic of the Vietnam War). This was in a working class industrial town in Connecticut where most of the potential draftees were sons of second or third generation immigrants. The Wasp kids often had the methods the legal means to get a 1Y or 4F deferments...or split for Canada and be supported by their parents because Canada would give sanctuary but not allow you to work. This got on my record with the powers that be and gave me trouble sometimes getting jobs later and being interrogated by unidentified officials at airports after travelling abroad. But it was worth it because I know that I at least helped one guy, a nice soft spoken Italian American, who was sole support for his widowed mother, get out of the war. Not wanting to boast here but I'm still proud of the work we all did together. I was in the last draft lottery where I drew a fairly low number and kept my 1A status. It was much more democratic system. In the end I squeaked out in the very last year of the draft by just 6 numbers. And Phil Ochs was a part of the mix echoing in the background then. Sorry for going on so long. Great to hear the song even from over a decade ago still ringing out on the streets of what looks like Brooklyn. Be well and keep singing. Thanks!

The song works very well in this less hasty pace compared to Phil's demo. I play it on my 12-string tuned down two steps..Those Em - D transitions sound very big when you use your thumb to fret the F# root of your D chord
